If you have ever been curious about fashion, fabric design or painting this is the class for you! In this class you will walk into a studio filled with inspiration, waiting for you to turn it into your own original painted artworks. Once you have your artworks ready, Tara will teach you how to turn your artworks into a Textile Design. Leave with your own original artwork/s and some tips for designing for textiles. Enjoy a friendly, creative and inspiring environment.
WORKSHOP
Enjoy 4x 1.5-hour painting class with Tara Whalley learning how to paint with gouache. Be inspired by objects from her personal collection, which inspired her iconic prints from her Gorman collaboration. Get some handy hints on how to paint with Textile Design in mind.
In this class you will learn basic colour mixing techniques and introductory tips to painting for fashion prints and spend time painting your artwork.

- Work on your project over 4 weeks
- Spend time working on your artwork inspired by an imaginative display arranged by Tara
- Learn some hot tips about how to paint, with Textile Design in mind
- By the end of the class, you can take home your unique artwork, as well as some new painting skills!
- Some watercolour paper will be provided but you may need some of your own watercolour paper, paints and brushes depending on the scale of the project. Nothing is needed for class 1.
- Please wear clothes you won’t mind getting paint on
- This workshop will be held upstairs above Tara’s shop, Shop Gal. Located at 248 Johnston st Fitzroy.

About the host:
Tara Whalley established her self-titled fashion brand after returning to Australia after a year of working with war-affected Mayan weavers. It was this time in Guatemala that formed Tara's painting practice- translating experience into artwork for fabric print and a clear direction for the basis of her fashion signature style.
