Making of Tienda Rosy

Making of Tienda Rosy

Diary of my trip back to Guatemala! Where I used to live. It's been 5 years since I lived here, but it's still home. 💕

But first stop San Fran!

Checking out the bridge :)

My Pop Up shop at Dandelion Post, USA

My friend Jess, who used to be my housemate took me on an adventure to see the Botanical Gardens- I loved it!

New office. 👔 I was so stoked to be able to make a little desk and chair for a solid painting day in the carnivorous orchid greenhouse. This place is heavenly and hands down the craziest botanical gardens I have ever been to. #studio

Greenhouse painting 💕 loving all the orchids!

It was very very ideal having a little painting day at the Botanical Gardens. I love painting with the physical plant in front of me, but can often find painting outside distressing. I had this little glass house all to myself, and just played along when people assumed I worked there. 🔥#plantlady

I honestly cannot even put into words how amazing it is to be back in Xela, Guatemala. It's been very nostalgic for me, I first came here when I was 20 years old, and only expected to stay for 3 months, but stayed a year because I fell in love with this place. It's been amazing catching up with old friends, hanging out with the Mayan ladies I used to design for, dance classes, painting, getting fresh fruits and veg from the locals - and it's only day one. Heart is very full 💕

Weekend illustration. Featuring locals fishing for seafood, free range pigs, chickens, dogs and cats, our favourite local family who cooked us seafood, and lots of coconut trees 💓

Weekend beach trip on an island! Best prawns and fish of my life. The only three non local people in town! Great trip with the yoga house fam.

My new home 😉💃🌴

My Australian next door neighbours need to step up their game, because my gals here have me sorted for fresh Cocos, pancakes and Mexican mangoesA morning wandering around Xela, sketching some of my favourite structures 💕 I love the Spanish influence in the buildings and the Catholic imagery. The central church has some incredible details, and some very interesting art pieces inside. 😍💃

I LOVE Xela 💕💕💕 ugh. Finished illustration.. how do we feel about this in just black, on the back of white long sleeves? 🤔

Some bits n pieces I have been working on. This morning, leaving for the studio, a man was taking his 4 goats for a walk past my front door as I left the house. Brilliant.

My studio in Guatemala

A Guatemalan Jaguar. The Xela natural history museum was closed today, but I love how the local craftsmen carve beautiful masks of this creature, and paint them in bright colours and patterns. A little painting I whipped up today... Perhaps he will pop up in a print

Work in progress, trying to get lots of plants in from the San Fran Botanical gardens. From my temporary Guatemalan Studio.

Chipping away before hip hop class 💃

Now just to work out what kind of garment to put it on 🤔 I'm thinking perhaps some t-shirts - thoughts?

"Coles" no more than 20 steps from my front door. Mexican mangoes, I have missed you! Taken on my film camera.
